So we are presenting in EOI Bilbao today. Such a wonderful day in Bilbao City. Ever so rainy and cold. We adore this atmosphere, beautiful old town with its spotless streets, supreme culinary scene and wonderfully courteous people. It really is a pleasure to be back.
Let’s get started!
Our presentations usually start with an overview of Linguistic Mediation and its elements, as you can see in the following link:
LINGUISTIC MEDIATION AND ITS ELEMENTS
We, teachers, are on the easy side of this story, because it is our students that actually need to understand, practice, integrate and make the most of Linguistic Mediation. And it is our duty to do our best in that compartment.
They seem to be thinking… This is really simple… but is it really that easy?
So at The Way Experience, we set out to meet several challenges, four to be more precise, all of them having to do with what we offer our students. At the end of the day, it is for them that we do our best in our lessons, isn’t it?
So at The Way Experience, we saw that mediation really called for a set structure that would allow teachers to integrate this not-so-new language activity in their syllabus, so it added up to their didactic units already containing four other language activities.
INTEGRATING MEDIATION IN YOUR ESL CLASSROOM
Something that we have seen is that students enjoy mediation more when it comes with some other task that they’ve traditionally thought more highly of, for example, a good activity to integrate phrasal verbs.
Practical Cases
EFFECTIVE FEEDBACK THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE
Our students really appreciate individual feedback. It is, no doubt, one of the most valuable things a teacher can give their students. Now, in combination with a proven strategical approach for their oral and written exams, their chances of success in any certification exam simply rocket.
To explore how to make the most of The Way’s Feedback System, you can watch this video.
SPEAKING WORKSHEETS WITH A STRATEGICAL TOUCH
When using The Way worksheets in class, we highly recommend projecting the worksheet you are working on, on the screen, as colours have been selected to make it so much easier for students to remember visually.
MAKING THE MOST OF THE WAY’S MATERIALS IN CLASS
According to a study by the International Research Network, 65% of the population has a Visual learning style. But I dare claim we are all visual. Like we could not bein this technological era!! Haha!
And last but not least, our Extra Materials section, where you can find different types of worksheets
